Is it finally time for Virtual Reality to take off?

I noticed that the company responsible for Google's Street View map feature has an office in Dallas. They have quite a few demonstration videos on their website of the technology they use. Very cool stuff.

Check it out (use your mouse to move around within the video):

Mt. St. Helens
Take an epic flight atop a historic natural artifact

Among Giants
Get onboard with Humpback Whales

42nd Street
Take a drive down NYC's infamous 42nd Street

Although it's a bit hard to see in the top left corner of the player you can control zooming in an out with the slider.
