Pac Man turns 25
I can remember playing pac man and I remember not being able to get very far. I did own the 45 of Pac Man Fever by Buckner & Garcia. I probably drove everyone in the house silly listening to it. I owned an Odyssey ][ game console which came out with KC Munchkin, which was just a clone of Pac Man. But Pac Man was everywhere...
I can remember that many of the local pizza joints and even the Chili's had cocktail table video games like galaga/galaxian (more my type of game) and pac man, sometimes defender, joust, or Gorf. As a kid, this is what I wanted to do on my birthday. Go to Chucky Cheeses, or Dave and Busters and play as many video games as possible. My all time favorite? Probably Gauntlet and Street Fighter 2.
Do arcades exist anymore? I mean I know theres video games at Chucky Cheese and the local minature golf places but do you still see Tilt! or Aladdin's Castle at malls anymore? I guess with the great graphics you get with today's consoles...theres no reason to waste money at the arcades....
